O presente trabalho pretende ser uma reflexão sobre a temática do património e da sua relação com as comunidades. O seu principal objetivo é perceber quais são os lugares patrimoniais de uma comunidade, tendo por objeto de estudo a comunidade e o Centro Histórico de Odivelas. Ao serem analisados vários documentos bibliográficos e através de um ativo trabalho de campo, pretende-se compreender qual a importância que o património tem para esta comunidade e de que forma essa mesma comunidade protege e salvaguarda o seu património. É ainda objetivo deste trabalho apresentar uma proposta de roteiro que materialize a relação estudada entre a comunidade do Centro Histórico de Odivelas e o seu património cultural. Para esta análise ser o mais completa possível, importa primeiro de tudo definir alguns conceitos, como o de comunidade, património, interpretação patrimonial, turismo cultural, entre outros. Posteriormente, será feito um levantamento o mais completo possível dos bens patrimoniais, móveis, imóveis e imateriais, existentes nesta área geográfica, e que constituem a base para o roteiro proposto neste trabalho.

The present work intends reflects on the theme of cultural heritage and its relation with local communities. Its main objective is to understand the heritage values defined by a certain community, focusing on the Historic Centre of Odivelas as a case study. The methodology emphasizes bibliographical and documental research, as well as an active field work as means to understand the importance that cultural heritage has on a given community and how that same community protects and safeguards its heritage. Another objective of this research is to present a cultural route that materializes the studied relationship between the community from the Historical Centre of Odivelas and its cultural heritage values. For a thorough analysis it is important to define the major concepts such as community, heritage, heritage interpretation, cultural tourism and identity. A complete inventory of cultural heritage assets, material and intangible, is prosecuted in this work, establish henceforth the basis for the proposed cultural route.
