Nesta tese analisa-se a qualidade do espaço físico de casas de acolhimento, assim como a sua relação com a satisfação com a vida e a vinculação ao lugar, em crianças e jovens a quem foi aplicada uma medida de promoção e proteção de acolhimento residencial. Participaram nesta investigação quantitativa 52 participantes, entre os 12 e os 21 anos, em acolhimento residencial, que responderam a três questionários: “Questionário de avaliação da perceção afectiva do espaço físico” (Russel & Pratt, 1980), o “Questionário Satisfação com a Vida” (Magalhães & Calheiros, 2015), e o “Questionário de Vinculação ao Lugar” (Neto, 1993). Ressaltou dos resultados do estudo que: os participantes fizeram uma avaliação maioritariamente positiva dos espaços físicos das CAR, descrevendo-as como: Estimulante, Agradável, Excitante, Relaxante e Sossegado; existe uma relação positiva entre a qualidade afetiva do espaço físico e a satisfação com a vida; que quanto maior a satisfação com a vida, maior a vinculação ao lugar, e; quanto mais positiva é a perceção da qualidade afetiva do espaço de lar, maior a satisfação com a vida e a vinculação ao lugar. A dimensão da vinculação ao lugar que melhor perdiz a qualidade afetiva do espaço físico é a identidade de lugar. Os resultados obtidos contribuem para a reflexão sobre a importância da melhoria dos serviços prestados aos jovens acolhidos, quer pelas instituições avaliadas, quer a sua generalização para outras, suas semelhantes.

This thesis analyzes the quality of the shelters' physical space, as well as their relationwith the satisfaction with life and the connection to the place, in children and young people to whom a measure of promotion and protection of residential reception was applied. Participants in this quantitative study were 52 participants, aged 12 to 21 years, in a residential setting, who answered three questionnaires: "Questionnaire for assessing affective perception of physical space" (Russel & Pratt, 1980), "Satisfaction Questionnaire with Vida "(Magalhães & Calheiros, 2015), and the" Questionnaire of Linking to Place "(Neto, 1993). He emphasized from the results of the study that: the participants made a mostly positive evaluation of the physical spaces of the CAR, describing them as: Stimulating, Pleasing, Exciting, Relaxing and Peaceful; there is a positive relationship between the affective quality of physical space and satisfaction with life; that the greater the satisfaction with life, the greater the attachment to the place, and; the more positive is the perception of the affective quality of the home space, the greater the satisfaction with life and the attachment to the place. The dimension of the attachment to the place that best lost the affective quality of the physical space is the Identity of place. The results obtained contribute to the reflection on the importance of improving the services provided to young people, both by the institutions evaluated and their generalization to others, their counterparts.
