Each semester, a large variety of courses (or curricular units) are taught in English; additionally, many Portuguese-taught courses have tutorials in English.

Exchange students may select courses under the following conditions:

• Undergraduate students can only choose undergraduate courses, Master's students can choose undergraduate and master's courses, PhD students can choose couses from all levels.
• Exchange students can choose courses from any of Iscte’s schools, provided that those units do not have specific requirements (detailed information on this topic can be found in the course lists).
• Exchange students can choose courses up to a maximum of 30 ECTS per semester, or 36 ECTS if one of the courses is Portuguese as a Foreign Language.
