Mission and Vision

The contribution that Iscte can make to society is to develop, with high-quality standards, its mission in these three areas:

• teaching, especially at postgraduate levels;
• scientific research;
• and the transfer of knowledge to society.

The mission of Iscte is clearly defined in Article 2 of the Statutes of the Iscte Foundation – University Institute of Lisbon (Annex to Decree-Law No. 95/2009 of 27 April), Article 2:

• Iscte promotes the creation, transmission and dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge in its fields of specialisation;
• Iscte attaches special importance to scientific research, postgraduate training and the transfer of knowledge to society;
• In fulfilling its mission, Iscte promotes the internationalisation of its activities.
