A geração sénior faz-se cada vez mais notar na sociedade portuguesa, o que não se equipara com a realidade tecnológica que se vive contemporaneamente. O aumento do número de idosos em Portugal, com diferentes níveis de literacia, níveis de motivação e défices nas vertentes físicas e psicológicas têm implicações para o sistema de saúde, particularmente para o Sistema Nacional de Saúde (SNS), por ser esta geração que mais recorre a este sistema. É importante a integração e exploração de novas aplicações e sistemas, canais de comunicação, entre outros que permitirão ao SNS, não só otimizar os seus processos, como melhorar a prestação dos serviços. No entanto, não se verifica um acompanhamento da utilização e benefícios destas tecnologias por parte das gerações mais envelhecidas, tornando-se necessário perceber se a tecnologia, pode garantir o acompanhamento da sua evolução por parte de todos os cidadãos. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo a análise do uso de tecnologias na prestação dos serviços públicos de saúde relacionando com a questão da literacia, limitações e a motivação ou interesse por parte desta faixa etária, com o intuito de combater a exclusão digital na população sénior. Também se pretende compreender se a tecnologia usada no SNS aproxima ou afasta a população sénior ao acesso a cuidados de saúde, e propor formas de implementar as novas tecnologias, mantendo alguns métodos ou processos menos recentes para os mais velhos.

The senior generation is increasingly noted in Portuguese society, which is not equated with the technological reality that is lived at the same time. The increase in the number of elderly people in Portugal, with different levels of literacy, levels of motivation and deficits in the physical and psychological aspects have implications for the health system, particularly for the National Health System (SNS), because this generation is the one that uses this system the most. It is important to integrate and exploit new applications and systems, communication channels, among others that will allow the SNS, not only optimize its processes, but improve the provision of services. However, there is no monitoring of the use and benefits of these technologies by older generations, and it is necessary to understand whether technology can ensure that all citizens monitor their evolution. This research aims to analyze the use of technologies in the provision of public health services relating to the issue of literacy, limitations and motivation or interest on the part of this age group, in order to combat digital exclusion in the senior population. It is also intended to understand whether the technology used in the NHS brings the senior population closer to access to health care, and to propose ways to implement new technologies, while maintaining some methods or processes less recent for older people.
