O “Jornal Escolar” é um projeto de intervenção pedagógica a aplicar na Escola Básica Padre José Rota e dirige-se aos alunos do 2º e do 3º ciclos. Este tem como propósito fomentar hábitos de leitura e de escrita, promover o sucesso escolar e desenvolver competências pessoais e sociais, de forma a preparar os alunos para uma intervenção útil e responsável na sociedade. Este projeto permite trabalhar, de forma interdisciplinar, todas as áreas fundamentais do currículo, possibilitando um intercâmbio de saberes e fomentando o espírito colaborativo. Servirá como um veículo de comunicação entre todos os elementos da comunidade educativa. Através deste instrumento poderão ser divulgadas todas as atividades desenvolvidas na escola. Este projeto está dividido em várias secções. A primeira diz respeito ao enquadramento teórico, onde se abordam questões relacionadas com a importância da leitura e da escrita, a evolução histórica dos jornais escolares em Portugal, a utilização do jornal como ferramenta pedagógica, assim como a metodologia de trabalho de projeto. Na segunda parte, define-se a metodologia a privilegiar, sendo esta de planeamento. As técnicas de recolha de informação, como o questionário, a entrevista e a análise documental, permitiram efetuar o diagnóstico das necessidades. Na terceira parte, foi planificado o projeto, no qual se destacam as finalidades, os objetivos gerais e específicos, o plano de ação, os recursos humanos e materiais e a respetiva avaliação. Para formar crianças e jovens autónomos, críticos e interventivos, urge desencadear meios que permitam dotá-los de ferramentas pessoais para responderem a esse desígnio.

The “School Journal” is a project of pedagogical intervention to be implemented at Escola Básica Padre José Rota and it is aimed to Junior and Senior School students. It has the purpose of giving impetus to reading and writing habits, promote educational attainment and develop personal and social skills in order to prepare students to have a useful and responsible intervention in society. This project allows working all of the curriculum fundamental areas in an interdisciplinary way, thus giving the possibility of knowledge exchange and fostering collaborative spirit. It will be a means of communication between all members of the educational community. All the activities developed at school may be made available through this means of communication. This project is divided in many sections/parts. The first section deals with theoretical framework, where it covers issues related to the importance of reading and writing; the historic evolution of school journals in Portugal; the use of the journal as a pedagogical tool, as well as, the methodology of project work. In the second part it defines the methodology which is going to be a priority, and the priority methodology is based on planning. The techniques of gathering information, such as the questionnaire, the interview and the documental analysis leads to a diagnosis. The project was planned in the third part, where it highlights the purposes, the general and specific targets/objectives, the action plan, the material and human resources and its evaluation. In order to form autonomous, critical and intervening children and teenagers there is a great need to develop means of providing them with personal tools that allow them to fulfill this target.
