O Andanças e ‘As Andanças’ – um olhar antropológico sobre o espaço do festival pela perspetiva da organização e da população de Póvoa e Meadas Esta dissertação que inicialmente seria só sobre o festival Andanças, tornou-se numa viagem pelo espaço da Barragem de Póvoa e Meadas, onde se situa este mesmo festival. Uma viagem que vai muito para além do espaço físico, que tem como ponto de partida as memórias que as gentes desta barragem têm sobre a mesma, uma barragem que é em si um ideal de empreendedorismo, inovação, desenvolvimento e construção, um espaço que em tempos abrigou um ideal, o do Engenheiro Custódio Nunes, e que agora o festival Andanças, a meu ver, volta a trazer para este mesmo espaço, noutros moldes, mas com o mesmo objetivo de há décadas de anos quando foi construída, o desenvolvimento de uma zona situada no interior do Alto Alentejo. Neste sentido, a minha dissertação é a narrativa que o espaço do Andanças me tem vindo a contar, uma história escrita entre danças e andanças do mundo concentradas num espaço que foi e é comum a estes dois grupos de intervenientes, a organização do festival e a população de Póvoa e Meadas. Centrada nos termos espaço, memória, festival e barragem elaboro uma perspetiva antropológica sobre esta barragem que é muito mais para além do seu aspeto natural e físico, é um espaço que alberga o lazer, a diversão, e, ao mesmo tempo, ideais e memórias que eu pretendo dar conta, com o intuito de mostrar como muitas vezes o ser humano está intrinsecamente ligado ao espaço por variadíssimas formas, e que por isso devem ser respeitadas.

The Andanças and 'The Andanças’ - an anthropological look at the space of the festival by the perspective of the organization and the population of Póvoa e Meadas This dissertation that initially would only be about Andanças festival, became a journey through the Póvoa e Meadas dam, where this festival is located in space. A journey that goes far beyond the physical space, which has as its starting point in the memories of the people from this dam , a place which is itself an ideal of entrepreneurship, innovation, development and construction, a space that hosted an ideal in times, the ideal of Engineer Custodio Nunes, and now Andanças festival, I believe that it brings back to this same space in a different way, but with the same goal for decades when it was built, the development of an area located within the Alto Alentejo. In this regard, my thesis is what the narrative space of Andanças festival has come to rely, written between dances and wanderings of the world concentrated in a space that was, and is common to these two groups of participants, the organization of the festival and population of Póvoa e Meadas. Centered in terms like space, memory, festival and dam I elaborate an anthropological perspective on this dam which is much beyond its natural and physical appearance, it is a space that houses the leisure, entertainment, and at the same time, ideals and memories that I intend to highlight, in order to show how often the human being is intrinsically linked to space in a variety of ways, and therefore must be respected.
