Estudar a influência da educação formal ou escolar na educação tradicional no processo educativo de jovens das comunidades rurais de Angola, focalizado na comunidade rural Vahanya que habita a região Centro-Oeste de Angola, compreendendo a divisão político-administrativa dos municípios de Caimbambo, Cubal, parte sul da Ganda e parte norte e nordeste do Chongoroi, Província de Benguela, constitui o objectivo principal da pesquisa. O presente estudo privilegia a forma de raciocínio e de argumentação hipotética dedutiva que passa pela reflexão sobre um campo teórico relacionado com o da educação, no sentido de educação escolar e educação tradicional, de cultura e identidade, de socialização e aculturação, de representações sociais e que permitiu alicerçar o trabalho de campo. Com a realização do trabalho de campo foi possível obter dados que provam a importância que a comunidade rural Vahanya atribui à educação formal transmitida por intermédio da escola e à educação tradicional passada através da instituição ocoto e da prática dos rituais de iniciação (ekwenje e efeko). A realização do trabalho de campo permitiu, igualmente, verificar que a educação formal e a educação tradicional mantêm uma relação dicotómica, devido ao facto de a educação formal não se articular com a educação tradicional comunitária e, por conseguinte, não ser assumida a necessidade de uma educação intercultural que estude não somente os propósitos do currículo escolar oficial mas, seja capaz, também de resgatar o papel da educação tradicional e os seus valores fundamentais.

Studying the influence of modern education in the traditional education of the educative process for young people of the rural community in Angola, to strengthen relationships with Vahanya Rural Community which inhabit (live in) in the Centre West of Angola. Comprising the political division - administrative municipalities of Caimbambo and Cubal (located in the southern part of Ganda and northern part and northeastern of Chongoroi, Benguela Province) is the main objective of this research. This study focuses on the way of reasoning and deduction hypothetical argument that passes through the definition of related theories of education, in senses, modern and traditional, culture and identity, socialization and acculturation, social representations that enabled the base of fieldwork. With the completion the fieldwork, it was possible to obtain data that show the importance of modern education in the Vahanya Rural Community that was transmitted by the school and the traditional education is transmitted by ocoto institution and the ritual practice of initiation “ekwenje and efeko”. This work allowed also determine that modern and traditional educations remain a dichotomous relationship, due to the fact that the modern education does not articulate with the traditional communitarian education and therefore, it does not assume the inevitableness of a cultural education which studies not only the purpose or intention of official scholar curriculum but to be able to ransom the importance of traditional education and their fundamental values.
