A Reserva Museológica (RM) da Direção Geral de Reinserção e Serviços Prisionais (DGRSP), localiza-se no interior do Estabelecimento Prisional de Lisboa e tem como missão a salvaguarda da memória material e imaterial desta instituição. O processo de recolha de objetos iniciou-se em 2010 e atualmente o acervo conta com milhares de objetos que nos permitem conhecer a história da DGRSP bem como a história penal portuguesa. Neste trabalho irei explorar os contextos histórico e organizacional/institucional da RM, socorrendo de bibliografia sobre outros museus similares existentes fora do contexto nacional. Irei igualmente analisar este importante espaço de conhecimento através da apresentação da sua localização, as condições dos espaços e exposição do método de trabalho utilizado pela sua equipa. Por fim, será abordado o futuro da RM através da apresentação de um programa museológico com vista à futura musealização deste acervo. Este museu permitiria a divulgação e fruição deste importante património, bem como um possível envolvimento dos reclusos e jovens internados em centros educativos no âmbito do seu processo de formação e posterior reinserção social.

The museum storage collection of the Direção Geral de Reinserção e Serviços Prisionais (DGRSP), is located inside the Estabelecimento Prisional de Lisboa and its mission is to preserve the material and imaterial memory of this institution. The process of collecting objects started in 2010 and today the collection has thousands of objects of museological interest that can also teaches us about the Portuguese penal history. In this dissertation I will explore the contexts surrounding the museum storage collection by presenting some similar museums (based on bibliography) and by providing some historical and organizational contexts. I will discuss the RM’s location and physical conditions and then I will explore the working methods used by its team. Finally, I will analyse the future of the reserve and propose a museological program hoping it acts as an incentive for a future development. This museum could not only pave the way for divulgation and fruition of this heritage but could also involve the convicts, especially the younger ones, through art submissions or curatorial programs. This involvement can contribute to convicts’ professional qualification and also help with their social reintegration.
