Este trabalho consiste numa investigação sobre o (in)sucesso escolar dos alunos descendentes de imigrantes, especificamente dos alunos de origem cabo-verdiana. O objetivo do estudo foi tentar perceber as dinâmicas relacionais (aluno, professor, família) que levam estes alunos a terem insucesso escolar. Decidimos utilizar uma metodologia qualitativa com recursos a instrumento também de cariz qualitativo. O insucesso escolar dos alunos descentes de imigrantes tem sido documentado nas últimas décadas, em Portugal. Durante a nossa pesquisa encontrámos vários fatores que podem estar envolvidas nas causas do insucesso escolar, e privilegiámos a dimensão relacional. No âmbito deste trabalho tivemos a oportunidade de realizar entrevistas aos alunos rapazes do 3º ciclo do ensino básico, aos diretores de turma e aos pais/ encarregados de educação. O 3º ciclo é considerado um ciclo decisivo porque os jovens começam a ser mais responsáveis e autónomos nas suas escolhas. As principais conclusões a que chegamos é que há uma certa distância entre a comunidade escolar e a comunidade familiar. Há falta de acompanhamento escolar intensivo por parte dos pais. Nota-se ainda uma certa desmotivação nos estudos por parte dos alunos.

This work consists of research on the educational (in)success of pupils of immigrant descent, specifically of pupils of Cape Verdean origin. The aim of the study was to understand the relational dynamics (student, teacher, family) that lead these students to school failure. We decided to use a qualitative methodology using a qualitative instrument. The school failure of students of immigrant descent has been documented in recent decades in Portugal. During our research, we found several factors that may be involved in the causes of school failure, and we focused on the relational dimension. As part of this study, we had the opportunity to conduct interviews with student boys, class leaders and parents. The 3rd cycle of basic education is considered a decisive cycle because young people start to be more responsible and autonomous in their choices. The main conclusions we reached were that there is a certain distance between the school community and the family. There is a lack of intensive educational monitoring by parents. There is also a certain lack of motivation on the part of the students in their studies.
