Atualmente, o tema das alterações climáticas tem vindo a ganhar terreno, derivado das crescentes crises climatéricas e das extremas mudanças sentidas. Este tema em conjunto com o aumento da esperança média de vida e o crescente número de pessoas mais velhas tem vindo a preocupar alguns investigadores, não só por estes serem tidos como um grupo de risco, mas também pela influência que podem ter na resolução de problemas. O presente estudo procurou investigar as diferenças intergeracionais no que toca às motivações quanto à adoção de comportamentos sustentáveis. Elaborou-se a análise de uma amostra de 310 pessoas, com idades entre os 18 e 76 anos (M = 38.59, DP = 14.61) através de uma mediação paralela com as variáveis mediadoras: percepção de saúde, generatividade, altruísmo e ligação com a natureza. Os resultados corroboram as hipóteses de que o altruísmo e a ligação com a natureza são motivadores de comportamentos sustentáveis e que as gerações mais velhas adotam mais comportamentos sustentáveis em comparação com as mais jovens. Estes resultados foram discutidos com base na literatura.

Currently, the topic of climate change has been gaining ground, resulting from the growing climate crises and the extreme changes felt. This topic, together with the increase in average life expectancy and the growing number of older people, has been worrying some researchers, not only because they are considered a risk group, but also because of the influence they can have on the resolution of problems. The present study aimed to investigate intergenerational differences regarding motivations for adopting sustainable behaviors. The analysis of a sample of 310 people, aged between 18 and 76 years old (M = 38.59, SD = 14.61) was carried out through parallel mediation with the mediating variables: perception of health, generativity, altruism and connection with nature. The results corroborate the hypotheses that altruism and contact with nature are motivators of sustainable behaviors and that older generations adopt more sustainable behaviors compared to younger generations. These results were discussed based on the literature.
